We strive to protect our climate by producing, collecting and publishing climate impact data to support others in acting more sustainably. With our Data Ethics Policy, we commit ourselves to a high standard of data processing to protect the privacy and security of all data subjects. This means that we are not only dedicated to comply with legal requirements, but we also adhere to our rigorous moral and ethical values. Through this Data Ethics Policy, we want to communicate these values to our users and partners, thereby further promoting the integration between our services and the right to privacy. The purpose of our Data Ethics Policy is to articulate our data ethics principles. We process considerable amounts of data within our organization and on behalf of our partners. Therefore, it is important for us that our partners always feel safe when entrusting us with their data. Providing data and information security are at the center of what we do.. Our core principles of data ethics include the important topics of ownership, transparency, privacy and security, data quality, and integrity.

1. Ownership

One core principle of our data ethics policy is that individuals have ownership over their personal data. Therefore, we do not process personal data without consent.

2. Transparency

When gathering data, we make sure to be transparent about the way we collect and employ said data. Further information on this matter can be found in the Data Protection Policy.

3. Privacy and Security

Privacy and security are intrinsically linked. We make sure to protect the privacy of data subjects by storing data solely in secure databases.

4. Data quality

We view quality data as data which fits its intended purpose. In this sense, we only collect information when it is necessary and/or explained in our Data Protection Policy to avoid any legal risk. Moreover, by minimizing the information we collect and thereby focusing on lean data collection, we decrease the probability of becoming subject to cyber intrusions.

5. Integrity

We are highly committed to safeguarding the privacy and integrity of every stakeholder affected by our processes. We always value and prioritize the fundamental rights and safety of individuals over economical profit or other types of material benefits.
